South Stoughton Road Business Walk to take place on June 22

#BusinessWalk will visit over 200 businesses in two hours on June 22

The City of Madison’s Office of Business Resources(OBR) is preparing for its first Business Walk in the Stoughton Road corridor. A Business Walk is when a group of volunteers go business-to-business asking the owners five questions about the state of their business. It helps the city understand what is happening in the business community in one particular area and better track which businesses are hiring, closing, in need of assistance, looking to expand etc.

Madison’s first business walk was on the north side of Madison last September. 50 volunteers visited 150 businesses in the course of three hours. The volunteers loved the experience and many of those volunteers will be helping with the Stoughton Road walk as well.

100+ volunteers are being recruited to visit over 300 businesses in the South Stoughton Road corridor. The City will be doing mailings and marketing before the event to try to prepare the owners for the visits.

If you would like to join, a more precise agenda will be distributed shortly but you can expect something along these lines:

  • 7:30-9am breakfast/walk training
  • 9am-12pm Business Walk
  • 12-1:30pm lunch and wrap up

The meetings will take place at Madison Turners located at 3001 S. Stoughton Road, Madison, WI 53716.

MESBA will be partnering with the City of Madison for the walk. If you have questions, please email Kristie Schilling at MESBA or give her a call at 222-8565.
