Rockin’ Chocolate Marathon on September 2

2017 is the first year for the Rockin’ Chocolate Marathon, which encircles Lake Monona. The marathon takes place on Saturday, September 2 and will bring 1,000 athletes plus their families through the community. The Rockin’ Chocolate Marathon combines running with two of America’s favorite things—chocolate and music. The event features a full marathon, half marathon, half marathon walk (timed) and team relays. Musicians will play along the course and at the Finish Line Festival. The Finish Line Festival will feature a variety of local & national Chocolatiers.

Event Coordinator, Robin Kempfer, is seeking volunteers to provide water stations along the course route. This is a great opportunity for businesses to welcome athletes by hosting a water station! If you’re interested in more information, please email Robin or give her a call at (608) 217-5941.

The course follows paved paths and tree covered streets along the shores of beautiful Lake Monona, which provides cooler temperatures throughout most of the course. Runners will view the beautiful skyline of Madison and run under the Frank LLoyd Wright Monona Terrace Convention Center. Full marathon participants will loop the same course twice which allows them to drop off at 13.1 miles if weather conditions are less than perfect or for any other reason. All participants receive an official Rockin’ Chocolate race shirt, pre-race snacks, post-race snacks, a goody bag full of awesome treats, a free beer or soda, a finisher medal and free entry into the Finish Line Festival. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit area not for profits.
