Purple Silhouettes Display on Monona Drive Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence in Dane County

Monona, WI – October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. Each October, Zonta Club Madison organizes community events to raise awareness of domestic abuse in our community. One of these events is a display of Purple Silhouettes that represent survivors and victims of Domestic Violence. The victims include women, men, children and even pets.

You can see the outdoor display at East Madison/Monona Coalition of the Aging at 4142 Monona Drive, Monona. Sonja Lundquist, EMMCA Executive Director is a member of Zonta Club of Madison. Also, look for posters at area businesses.

Purple Ribbon Walk is another Zonta Club of Madison awareness event. On Monday, October 2, at noon, Zonta Club of Madison joins Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, UNIDOS Against Domestic Violence, and End Abuse Wisconsin for the Annual Purple Ribbon Walk around the Capitol Square. The event remembers those in Wisconsin who have been lost to domestic violence in 2016. This year it will recognize over 50 victims. The public is welcome to participate.
