MONONA GROVE SCHOOL DISTRICT Annual Meeting & Budget Hearing
Glacial Drumlin School: 801 Damascus Trail, Cottage Grove, WI 53527
Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 7pm
On October 4, the Monona Grove School District will hold its Annual Meeting. Included on this year’s agenda is a proposal to purchase approximately 40 acres of land adjacent to Glacial Drumlin Middle School in Cottage Grove.
The acquisition of land is a key part of the facilities planning process, especially for a growing school district like Monona Grove. The proposed land purchase provides the District with flexibility and appropriate land necessary to accommodate future space needs.
Monona Grove currently enrolls almost 3,500 students, up by nearly 300 students from the 2012-13 school year. The urban planning firm Vandewalle & Associates projects District enrollment will increase by more than 750 additional students between 2017-18 and 2030-31.
Continued enrollment growth means several District schools are projected to soon reach or exceed their capacities.
The proposed purchase price is $1.6 million for approximately 40 acres, or about $40,000 per acre.
You can learn more about the proposed land purchase by attending the Annual Meeting, scheduled for 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 4 in the Glacial Drumlin IMC (801 Damascus Trail, Cottage Grove).
