Hit the Trails with a FREE Candlelight Snowshoe
Madison, WI. Join the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, City of Monona Parks & Rec and the City of Madison Parks for a candlelit evening snowshoe hike as hundreds of candles softly glow throughout the trails at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, Woodland Park and Edna Taylor Conservation Park. All ages and abilities are welcome to this FREE snowshoeing event – learn to snowshoe or show off your mad skills…either way, we want to see you on the trails! After snowshoeing, warm up by a roaring fire; and, for a small fee, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, some tasty popcorn or make your very own s’more. Head into the nature center to learn about local habitats, explore our planet and dive into January’s “Corals & Seas” theme in ALNC’s exhibits, interactive theaters and Nature Nook play spaces. Suggested donation is $5 for family admission.
This is a FREE event with FREE parking and a FREE shuttle from the Meriter Monona parking lot (6408 Copps Ave); refreshments will be available for a fee. If you have your own snowshoes, we encourage you to bring them with you to the hike. If you do not own snowshoes, adult and child sizes will be available on a first come, first served basis. Snowshoes will also be available for purchase at the event from Chalet Ski and Patio for those interested in continuing the sport. If there is no snow, we will have a candlelit hike!
The Aldo Leopold Nature Center exhibits and public areas will have extended hours until 8pm this evening.
