Goodwill – Monona has been completely remodeled and will serve as the flagship store for their new retail design. Join us as we celebrate their new look with refreshments and a behind the scene tour of the store! The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place from 11:15-11:30am followed by a networking open house.
Goodwill was founded in 1902 in Boston’s South End by Dr. Edgar J. Helms, a Methodist minister. He collected used household items and clothing in wealthier areas of the city and then trained immigrants and the poor to mend and repair the used goods. The items were then resold or given to the people who repaired them and the Goodwill philosophy of “a hand up, not charity” was born.
Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin began in 1962 as a division of the Milwaukee Goodwill. Today they are a separate organization serving 14 counties (Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Juneau, Lafayette, Marquette, Richland, Rock and Sauk counties). This is a MESBA member only event.
