Both the City of Monona and City of Madison have road construction projects underway that may affect your daily commute. In Monona, the project includes the south end of Tonyawatha Trail, Progressive Lane and W. Dean Avenue at Winnequah Road. Temporary road closures will take place in these areas. Local traffic only will be allowed in this work zone. Bike and vehicle detours will be marked.
The work includes replacing water laterals and water main to begin the project and then will install new sanitary service laterals and storm sewer prior to lining sanitary sewer mains. Temporary water and sanitary services will be shut off or residents may be asked to refrain from using these services as new connections are made.
In the east side of Madison, the project includes installing sanitary sewer in the Walter Street-Sargent Street-Hargrove neighborhoods. The intersection will be closed to all traffic for the entire week. The contractor plans to start replacing the sanitary sewer on Sargent the week of April 17.
This project includes replacing curb and gutter, pavement, drive aprons and portions of the sidewalk. Public utility replacement includes sanitary sewer mains and laterals, water main and storm sewer. In addition, a large storm sewer box will be installed between the greenway at Hargrove Street and Richard Street. The project completion date is August 31.
